Australian port operator Qube Ports has ordered a 144 tonne LHM 550 mobile harbour crane.
The LHM 550 has a radius of 54 metres and comes in the four-rope configuration. It also features Liebherr's SmartGrab, which operates as an intelligent system optimising grab filling rates in a self-learning manner, helping increase the fill rate, while helping avoid overloads and saving on hardware.

Liebherr general manager Gordon Clark said: “This saves Qube a lot of hassle with grab changes, but also saves them money otherwise spent buying multiple grabs.”
Qube director Todd Emmert added: “It’s another exiting investment and a demonstration of Qube’s commitment to SIMEC and the port of Whyalla. This investment will assist SIMEC with its continued development of the Whyalla Port towards becoming a world-scale, multi-user facility. Liebherr has worked very hard to shorten our delivery to suit our client’s needs.”
