Fifth Manitowoc Intermat Dealer Award goes to BLE | Crane Plus:

Belgian Lifting & Equipment Company (BLE) has won the ‘Best Sales Progression GMA and GMK 2017’ award at Manitowoc’s Intermat Dealer Awards. The Puurs-based Manitowoc distribution partner produced exceptional results for mobile crane sales last year. It also achieved the biggest progression for GMA cranes. Despite only establishing a GMA rental presence in 2015, BLE quickly amassed a substantial fleet. It then doubled that fleet in 2017 and has already put in more orders in 2018. BLE was presented with the award by Manitowoc president and CEO Barry Pennypacker and executive vice president Aaron Ravenscroft. During a short speech, BLE managing director Paul Spaepen announced that the company would be affirming its commitment to Manitowoc by opening a new sub-dealership.

EINHÄUPL TAKES DELIVERY OF DEMAG® AC 250-5 ALL TERRAIN CRANE | Crane Plus:

Einhäupl Autokran-Service GmbH took delivery of a new Demag® AC 250-5 all terrain crane. The German company has its headquarters in Weiden, in the Upper Palatinate, as well as a branch office in Mühlau, close to Chemnitz. The crane was handed over by Terex Cranes Sales Manager Thomas Keckeis, who is responsible for Bavaria and Austria. “There were a number of reasons why the AC 250-5 was a compelling choice, and its innovative IC-1 Plus control system was one of them. It definitely gives the AC 250-5 a performance edge over all other units in the same capacity class. In fact, the control system enables us to complete projects with high-accuracy positioning that would normally require a crane from a higher lifting capacity class. Needless to say, this can be a decisive advantage when working at sites where space is tight,” Manager Daniel Einhäupl, the son of the company’s owner, says while explaining the purchase …

Engine manufacturer Cummins has announced its B6.7 and L9 engines are fully certified and in production at its UK factory, ahead of Stage V’s introduction next year. Cummins’ L9 Stage V engine Its B6.7 Stage V engine will produce 243kW, providing an increase of 30% on its Stage IV model. Meanwhile, the L9 Stage V model will provide an extra 13% of power over its previous version, reaching 298kW. Cummins said that the higher capability of its two engines delivered down-sizing opportunities for its equipment manufacturers. It added that the increase in power and torque meant they were replacing engines of higher displacement with no impact on equipment operation and providing installation cost savings for OEMs. Eric Neal, Executive Director, Cummins Off-Highway business, said, “These engines do more with less, offering higher power output and torque for improved machine capability in a smaller, lighter package that is cheaper to run. Grove GMK5150L relocates historic church in Australia | Crane Plus:

Australian crane rental company Cranes Combined supplied a Grove GMK5150L all-terrain crane to move a church in the state of Tasmania. Equipped with 5.6 t of counterweight and working at a radius of just under 12 m, the crane took approximately seven hours to move the 6 t church, which had been in position for over 100 years. “The church was built in the 1800s, and therefore relatively delicate, despite its size,” said Chris Kolodziej, who co-owns Cranes Combined with his wife, Cathy. “The GMK5150L is very smooth in its operation, so the whole lift was carried out without a hitch. Even the windows, which are very thin and fragile, were undamaged in the move.” The GMK5150L has a maximum capacity of 150 t. It has a main boom length of up to 60 m, and a maximum tip height of 88 m. *   Cranes Combined selects GMK5150L for delicate lift of church, after more than 100 years at previous site. *   Smooth operation of crane’s contr…
