Palfinger unveils HD spider cranes | Crane Plus:

Palfinger is set to unveil a three new heavy duty tracked articulated boom spider cranes at the IAA show in Hannover in September.

The PCC range will include three models - the 18.2 tonne PCC 57.002, the 22 tonne PCC 71.002 and 30 tonne PCC 115.002 - the largest of which will be displayed at the show.

Each crane can be separated into three modules - the crawler chassis, the main crane and the counterweight - for easier transportation or gaining access through restricted areas. The crane module can self-load onto a truck using its outriggers and be operated in this position without its chassis, or it can be truck mounted.  The crane module of the PCC 115.002 with jib and winch weighs 25 tonnes, while the tracked chassis weighs 10 tonnes.

Hydra Falls Over While Lifting Slab For Metro Work | Crane Plus:

In a freak incident a Hydra crane fell over while lifting a 2.5-tonne slab for the elevated portion of the North-South corridor of the Ahmedabad. The incident sparked rumours of death of a labourer and of others being injured. The crane fell over on its side near Acher in Motera area. Metro officials said while a slab was being lifted for fitting to the elevated platform, the crane lost balance and the slab fell on another crane which was standing in the vicinity.  Officials said the crane fell over as soon as the slab was lifted because the ground below the crane was wet and soggy due to rains and couldn’t bear the load. Officials said that when slabs are lifted, a small crane first lifts the slab to a particular height and from there another crane takes it higher and to the final level. Eyewitness say that the driver of the crane on which the slab fell got stuck in his cabin. Nearby residents saved the driver. Metro offici…

TCC-2500 Solves Wind Challenges In Kansas | Crane Plus:

A Link-Belt TCC-2500 250-ton (235-mt) telescopic crawler crane is on rent to R.J. Corman Railroad Services in Central Kansas. R.J. Corman Railroad Services is contracted by Watco Supply Chain Services to unload wind components delivered by truck and rail at two 30 acre sites in Great Bend and Larned, KS. We have a couple of power lines we have to go under and with the TCC-2500 in Great Bend, it just makes it simple to suck in the boom, crawl under it, use one spotter, and get it done. With the lattice, you take your crew of men, a semi-trailer, lay the boom down to go under the power line, and we may have to do that two or three times a day,” said R.J. Corman Railroad Services Crane Operator,  Patrick Nemec. Wind components are received via truck and rail, offloaded and placed on fixtures on the ground where they will remain for storage until they are assigned a wind farm for installation. By May 2018 over 1,000 wind components have…
